I don't think NT has a "Real DOS" mode like Win9x does, so you'd
probably have to boot a DOS floppy - and then run LOADLIN from there.

Where are you planning on installing Linux itself (boot issues aside) ?

You probably have not configured it well. Try to compile a
program with gcc -L/usr/lib -o [program] [program.c]. If it compiles,
You'll have to add -L/usr/lib to the specs file (in something like
/usr/lib/gcc....). Email me if this is the problem.

Go back to your 2.0.36 directory and type: make modules; make
modules_install.
You will also need to do a: depmod -a

I'm not too familiar with the Red Hat 5.2 setup, but it might very well
be that you have shadow passwords installed. This would imply that the
actual (encrypted) password string is in /etc/shadow instead of
in /etc/password.

If this isn't the case, when you have removed the password string from
/etc/password, can you become root (without rebooting)? If so,
try to do so and use passwd (or the Red Hat analog of it) to change it again.

K -> panel -> add application

Once the app is added then you can manipulate it by right clicking and choosing the
appropriate selection.

The K -> utilities -> menu editor will help manipulate the KDE menu.

The K -> system -> app finder will add your other applications to the KDE menu.

It is not....should it be?

What are the security implications of having 'quota' being SUID root?

I actually tried it, since it wouldn't hurt to try it and change it back,
and that did not seem to help either.

I mention this in the hope of running worms at all. It mysteriously

On my Debian system, crt1.o is part of the libc6-dev package; I suspect that
allmost all distributions put it in a development package of the GNU C
library (glibc aka GNU libc 2 aka libc6); most likely you just need to
install the package for glibc development.

I did it by using a RedHat CD and using "rpm -i --justdb" to install the
rpm packages that I already had installed as slackware packages. Very time
consuming unless you just go to the RPMS directory and type "rpm -i
--justdb *"
