I have the opinion that what an ISP doesn't know won't hurt them. Odds are
they don't have a way (or even care) to detect what OS you are using. My
experience has been that you might get a snide "Oh well we don't support
Linux." Besides it's not like using Linux will cause them any harm... so odds
are they just don't want to fund the training for their tech support.

An upcoming Linux game sports a COM emulator. go

It is now closely tied in with the game, but I believe there are some ppl
ripping it out of
the game so it can be used in other projects. Any way, the source code for
COM on Linux
is right there...

Actually, I did this earlier today. The only problem I have is

Since the usual rule is not to *randomly* capitalize, but rather to capitalize
all words that begin sentences, no information is lost. Think of it as an
xor.

What information did you think was being destroyed, anyway?

Anyone know how I can get netstat to do this in Linux? Here's what the

See the attached file (showing the command: netstat -w 5).

Bascially, I want a utility to give me a running total of the

WP is not a suite although a friend told me it was. Installed, 10 minutes later
uninstalled.

Applix 4.4.1 (+filters patch) imports and exports office97 pretty good when it works.
All
too often it goes into a 100% CPU loop when importing complex or long (e.g. 15+ pages)
documents. The spreadsheet is a little on the rudimentary side. Graphics display is
poor: screen repaints, flicker, dropping bits, etc.

SO5 seems to work best, however it uses up the most memory, has the worst documentation
and doesn't export office97 which is a fatal for me.

Bottom line: none of the 'office97' replacement suits seem to know how to write +95% or
even fault tolerant import filters [or export in SO5 case]. Most crashes on import.
Spreadsheets work best, Word clones 2nd, ppt a feeble last. Until this changes it's
not
possible to switch given so much of the business office world traffics in office97.
I'm
still dual booting :(.

That being said give it a try. SO5 is free and I believe a time bombed applix is on
the
#3 RH5.2 disk. Remember to check out all three office97 apps.

I wish I could recommend Window Maker, but each new release seems to add as
many bugs as it fixes. In 0.51.0 the dock seems to get confused about where

For printer and font setup tips for WordPerfect, see my web page at:

Note, however, that the downloadable version lacks a font installer, so
you'll be stuck with a limited range of fonts unless you buy the retail

The X ftp programs, like FileRunner can do that (similar to WS_FTP in=20

You might take a look at 'man ncftp', but seems to me, I could not get=20
that to work quite right. Maybe it works if the directories already=20
exist, but otherwise I think it either puts all the files in one dir=20
and/or just gets blank files in place of the directory names.

Sounds like you could probably make use of the popular mirror.pl

I think it's your best bet given what you said you want to do. I don't

The postmaster account is an account you can send to if you don't know=20

If you don't set up an alias or some sort of forwarding, it goes to=20

I use the Debian distribution, so I'm not sure if this will work for
you, but I set the variable PS_PERSONALITY=POSIX, and the ps command
gives me output like my SVR4 system.

Also see 'man 8 clock' or setclock in RedHat.

I moved my HDs & cards from a 486 to a K6-233 and linux booted right
up and ran fine. Can't say the same for Win 95, which was on one of
the disks -- it hung on boot and I had to reinstall it.

Yeah, you have to think all these bigheaded Americanos are using
