Indeed. I'm inclined to think there's something sheep-like in the way
people have attached themselves to the `munge addresses' movement.

Not necessarily surprising, however. It's generally true that you
should handle partitions with the same program. I believe I have read
that using PM on your disk generally makes it necessary that you
continue to use it for subsequent operations. You cannot use MS fdisk
to remove linux partitions, either. Or at least, that has been my
experience.

Ok.. Is me with the WINE comment. Yes, I was using AOL4. Why I would want to is
because I can't really be bothered to change ISPs until I can get connected

I think K6 should build either with Pentium or even with Pentium Pro. Give
it a try, do both, boot both, look what happens.

Are you using Netscape? For earthlink, both incoming and outgoing
mailservers should be set to mail.earthlink.net also set for a pop3
server. That works for me.

That is odd. I actually bought RedHat 5.1 and it reads ISO9660 Joliet just
fine. It also puts the finished kernel (after make zImage) in
/usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/zImage. Believe me, I had to hunt for the damn

Consider the GPL. No, don't press delete yet! You, as the copyright
holder, will be able to use your own creation in proprietary products
without a problem, but others will not, because of the GPL license.
However, the GPL will (I assume) provide the degree of "openness" that
you indicate that you would like.

That happens so often it wouldn't be news.
I got the Jan 19 Issue of PC Magazine yesterday. Jim Seymore wrote, in
his column, that Win95 corrupted so often, "and Win98 is a lot worse",
that he keeps the Win CD in the drive ALL THE TIME so that it will be
handy when a system file goes south or some other problem appears. Now,
THAT'S a message I wouldn't dare to post in such a mag.
BTW, have you noticed how much smaller PC Mag is been the last few
issues, and how much more it is looking like that old puff & ad mag, PC
Windows?

Hello all,

I would appreciate any help/info for the following:

Question #1 Can anyone see my post?

My provider here in Japan seems to be a little inconsistent. The most

recent posts on the news server starts from 12/22/98 and end on
12/28/98.
Before that, the posts are before 10/23/97. So, I am curious if this
actually
makes it to the newsgroup.

   Question #2 Virus infection?

When running Linux for days (running experiments with neural
networks...)
a background process with "find" begins around 4:45 am. Does anyone
else
get something like this? I have installed LOTS of stuff, including
software
for Hangul (Korean) and Japanese writing. I found this place
(www.avpve.com)
for virus info but they don't mention anything similar to what I am
having.
And yes, I do usually run everything as root (I know I shouldn't, but I
have
never read of anyone getting infected under Linux). I will definately
practice
safe computing after this!

I actually have a few more questions, but I think I will wait and see
if this
actually gets posted before I write more.

Thank you in advance!

Happy New Year!
(In case anyone was wondering, this year is the year of the rabbit)

I've run 5.2 and Midnight Commander (mc) comes up ok. It appears that
those apps are not in your path statement. use "echo $PATH" and see
what dirs are in your path. If need be, edit .profile and add the
appropriate dirs to your path and then "source .profile"
