I think you'd see the difference straight away, but WindowMaker is a lot
lighter - you don't get pretty taskbars and control panels. I use
WindowMaker with a file manager called TkDesk which I like very much. It's
lightning fast and not too hard to configure so long as you don't mind
editing text files!

OK, I downloaded wm2 and wmx; now to figure what to do with them:
I'm a total newbie at linux, just installed it a week ago. I notice I'll
need to compile these files, so now to figure how to do that.....

If you are running KDE, try KDEFax and KDEVoice.
IF not, there are TONS of fax softare programs out there. I use efax.
No, it's not pretty. But it works. There are other packages that are
better, but I use efax for a reason.

IIRC the file in question is /etc/nologin. This file should be deleted
as part of the normal boot sequence. Check the redhat errata pages
for details of correcting you startup scripts.

One of the benefits of using Kermit 95 with Linux is that Kermit 95
supports "linux" as a native terminal type complete with a fully
programmed Linux Keyboard. There should be no need to use 'scoansi'
or define your own keybindings.

I have a computer currently running NT server using NTFS. I like to add a
second harddisk to the computer and install RedHat Linux on this drive. The
second harddisk will be used for Linux exclusively. I understand that if NT
is using FAT, there would not be any problem. Since my system is using
NTFS, can I install RedHat Linux on this system?
Thank you for any advise.

So how are you starting X, just with 'X', or using something like

The first version of Gfax for GNOME will be released in about
two weeks. It will eventually have the features you talk about.
I'd like to have it work with Mgetty+Sendfax and Hylafax first
then integrate the phonebook. The phonebook will be compatible
with GNOME'S "gnomecard" database, vcard and full blown SQL
databases.
I'll announce it to the GNOME page.

Try booting in Linux and running fdisk.
type "p" to look at the partition list.
See if it looks like this:
Command (m for help): p
Disk /dev/hda: 128 heads, 63 sectors, 969 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 8064 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 138 556384+ 6 DOS 16-bit >=32M
/dev/hda2 139 968 3346560 5 Extended
/dev/hda5 139 658 2096608+ 6 DOS 16-bit >=32M
/dev/hda6 659 724 266080+ 83 Linux native
/dev/hda7 725 855 528160+ 83 Linux native
/dev/hda8 856 904 197536+ 83 Linux native
/dev/hda9 905 936 128992+ 82 Linux swap
Command (m for help): m
Command action
a toggle a bootable flag
b edit bsd disklabel
c toggle the dos compatibility flag
d delete a partition
l list known partition types
m print this menu
n add a new partition
o create a new empty DOS partition table
p print the partition table
q quit without saving changes
t change a partition's system id
u change display/entry units
v verify the partition table
w write table to disk and exit
x extra functionality (experts only)
Command (m for help):
The "System" column on the left probably has the wrong
system type. you can change it to Linux native using the
t option with fdisk.

The card must be enabled in your kernel. This usually involves recompiling
the kernel and adding in the network driver, either built-in or as a module.
I would recommend built-in if have plenty of RAM and need to use your network
card a lot.

[ALL SNIPPED]
Here is what is in my /usr/local/netscape/plugins
RAObserver.class
RAPlayer.class
librvplayer.so -> /usr/local/rvplayer5.0/librvplayer.so
All I did was copy the two class files and link the library file in the plugin
directory.
Then, in netscape preferences, I added the following MIME type
name: who cares!
type: audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin
extension: rpm
Then selected the plugin name.
Also added
type: audio/x-pn-relaudio
and
type: audio/x-realaudio
and linked those to the rvplayer %s executable.
Check "Help/About-plugins" you should see the RealVideo player plugin with the rpm
extension.
Caveat: I haven't seen it work yet. The one page I've been to that actually
wasn't trying the G2 stuff (the G2 stuff wont work) gave me an error23.
But it did TRY to run.
Note: Check for MIME type duplicates and delete 'um! I had a couple dups.
