I seem to remember postings like this, I can't remember whether
it was WordPerfect or not, but it ended up that the file
wasn't zipped even though it had the .gz extension.
Try doing:
file gui00.gz
to see what kind of file it is, it might be a tar file (unzipped).
By the way, the Linux version of tar has an option -z to gunzip a file,
so if it is really a .tar.gz file, you can do it in one step:
tar -zxf file.tar.gz

Just about every distribution includes the GNU assembler "gas" as part of
"binutils" (http://www.gnu.org/software/binutils/binutils.html).
Another popular assembler is "nasm" (I don't have a website URL handy; it's
distributed as part of Debian;
http://www.debian.org/Packages/stable/devel/nasm.html)

I had a similar problem (kernel 2.2.5, SuSE 6.1) when I ran the
QT-example-program dragdrop.
This program contains an infinite recursion. This caused the X-Server to
crash and I couldn't shutdown Linux anymore.
Then I tried the following simple program :
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
void InfRecursion (){
char c[4000];
InfRecursion ();
}
int main (){
InfRecursion ();
}
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
After a while (of swapping), Linux was dead.
Well, one can avoid this by delimiting the stack via ulimit -s .
But it means, that Linux doesn't handle memory shortage gracefully.
Overcommited memory seems to be disabled, because cat
/proc/sys/vm/overcommited_memory says 0, but I'm not sure that this is
really the case.

Although that doesn't imply a causation. Maybe the local governments
are trying to deal with crime problems by restricting guns. Of
course, you can argue that such a policy does not work. A possible
way to find a causation would be to take an area with an average crime
level and no gun control, impose strict firearms laws, and see if the
crime rate goes up or down. Alternatively, you could take an area
with strict laws and lift them.

I don't think it does mutiprocessing. It does parallel processing, I
believe you need to run a parallel processing compliled program to
benifit from a beowulf cluster.

Sounds like a BIOS problem to me. Check /etc/lilo.conf - if nothing in
there references /dev/hdb, /dev/hdc or /dev/hdd then it's nothing to
do with lilo. I suspect your BIOS is autodetecting your disks when you
remove the second disk, and it's making wrong assumptions about LBA
mode. Why this should be I've no idea. Go into the BIOS setup with the
2nd disk disconnected and try to boot in LBA and CHS mode. One or the
other should work.

Don't forget the gnu fontutils, designd to convert scanned images into

Subject: isapnp and internal modem prob
Date: Wed, 26 May 1999 23:23:36 +1000
I have a pnpisa internal 56k modem, my problem is that I have a resource
conflict with it and something else when booting. This device was working
perfectly on RH5.2 but since my move to RH6 it has been a dog. I am almost
considering going back to 5.2 at this rate.
Also what is the rediculouse verifier in initrd? What is Redhat thinking of.
Another reason to backstep. Whenever I upgrade my kernel it gives my all
this wrong kernel version crap for system booting.
Anyway any help on the isapnp would be great. Here is an attached part of
isapnp.conf which I don't know what to do with but points to the device in
question. Any ideas on editing would be great, respond by email
