thats the problem alright, suspending the program tends to flush the buffer.
You can either fflush the buffer regularly in your code fflush(stdout),
or for a quick hack change all the the printf to fprintf(stderr as stderr
is guaranteed unbuffered by posix or someother standard that every unix
attempt to fufill.

True, that happened. But it wasn't always like that. Here in Belgium, there was a
concentrationcamp named 'Breendonk'. When the americans arrived, they torchered the
germans. That's a historical fact. And there's a lot more. But what do we expect ? It
was
war, with all pleasant and unpleasant stuff ... sort of ...

Well, no-one should have access to edit /etc/passwd by hand. Don't tell
anyone else the root password, and you should be fine - so long as you
don't change the attributes on /etc/passwd to allow users to edit it...

Two things, first check your /var/log/message file if should tell you
at what speed you connected to your ISP. Second check KKKP setup, look
for modem speed set it to 115200.

Try "convert" in the ImageMagick package.

Ok, since your able to send news...I assume you have access to
*some* computer....make yourself some rescue disks. There is a
set on the Slackware CD, or ftp....I don't think it matters what
distro you have since your going to use it as an OS of its own.
Boot up the Rescue set and mount the offending drive....hopefully
you should be able to put it back....
Another thing, that might get you past the ld problem...course if you
shut down you WONT be getting back in without an /etc....
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/local/lib
hopefully that would make it stop bitching at you...but maybe not.

I know I remember seeing a patch for 2.0 or 2.1 that specifically was
for adding support for recognising Xenix divvy filesystems/slices on a
Xenix partition. I don't know where I saw this, but I'm sure it washed
up in an ordinary web search with a search string like "xenix linux"
That was for Xenix, not 3.2v5.0.2, but in linux anything sco would be
supplied by the same sysvfs driver, and this was a while ago, so maybe
more work has been done.
Just wanted you to know that there is some chance that what you want
does exist.

Linux won't 'find' two ethernet cards. You need to manually set up the
second card.
Look at section 3.2 of the Ethernet-HOWTO -- it is completely explained there.

There is something screwy with your clock chip somehow. Do a make
clean, then make zlilo.

Subject: Printer problem
Date: Thu, 01 Jul 1999 12:57:32 GMT
Hello ,
I have a small problem with print text file on my HP DeskJet printer.
I have a staircase effect. I read Linux HOWTO document and write
a small program (filter) :
#include <stdio.h>
main (void) {
int ch;
for (;;) {
ch = getchar ();
if (ch == EOF) break;
if (ch == 0x0A) putchar (0x0D);
putchar (ch);
}
}
If i use them on the command line :
$ cat test.txt | tocrlf | lpr -P hpdj
all is OK, but if i define my printer in printcap as follow :
hpdj|lp3:\
:of=/usr/lbin/tocrlf:\ # My program filter
:lf=/usr/adm/lp3err:\
:lp=:\
:rm=PCkosa514b:\ # My print server
:rp=hpdj:\
:sd=/usr/spool/hpdj:
and send print job:
$ lpr -P hpdj test.txt
i permanently have staircase effect.
Help me, how i can use that filter in printcap.
Thanks

Well, I installed Redhat 6.0 on a Compaq Deskpro 6000 with a Matrox based AGP
card and it autodetected the puppy with nary a whimper.
Pretty nifty, actually.

The print filter entry should be
:if=/usr/lbin/tocrlf:\
if I remember (if = input filter )

Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Hi,
I have some trouble to install sixpack (BibTeX Database Manager) under
SuSE Linux 6.1. Probably I am not the only one who ever tried to get
this working...
If I type make install, I get:
pmaier@Maier:~/Temp/Sixpack/sixpack-0.98 > make install
\n\tGoing to install SixPack Bibliography Manager\n
\tI'm in './',
\tInstalling SixPack to './'\n
./install: .//test.pl: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden
./install: [: test: integer expression expected
bp converter utility (conv.pl) not found.
Please install or correct PATH variable!.
Unfortunately I not really what one could call a Linux Xpert, therefore
I don't really know what to make out of this error message. Perhaps one
of you could help me?
Thanx.
