I have RedHat 5.2 and my SoundBlaster PCI 128 works PERFECTLY.

Linux Kernel 2.2.10 ---> Sound ---> Ensoniq AudioPCI (ES1370).
Try this.

Tekram has patches to the kernel for the DC-390F. The last time I checked,
(awhile ago) they were only for 2.0.xx and earlier kernels. They are
supposed to be better than just using ncr drivers and when I applied the
patches and tried rebuilding the kernel, sure enough, tekram options
showed up in the menus. So, you might want to investigate that. Go
to the tekram home page and look for a link to drivers. It's actually
an ftp site but I don't have the address handy.

Subject: Serial Console and Magic Keys
Date: Thu, 08 Jul 1999 11:47:04 +0200

Hi there,

i am experimenting with Serial Konsole under Linux. I have a Linux
machine connected to a so called "Terminal server (TS)". This TS lets
you connect via telnet to a serial port. Ok thats nice.
In the current 2.2 Kernel there is a Options to enable the "Magic SysRq
key". This works great if we have the console right in front of us.

My Question now is:
How can i enable the Magic Keys over Telnet ? Are there any magic telnet
commands like "send brk" which do the mapping ?

If someone can give me a hint :-)

Thanks,
  Juergen

Now I'm confused. RPMs don't live in /usr/sbin on RH6.
I've tried GnoRPM, but can't find anything resembling clock tools.
In fact, if someone tells me how to make GnoRPM look at my CD drive, I can have a
look on my RH6 disks

Last I looked it was free for non-commercial use. If you are using ssh
version 2.x even breathing on it is commercial use, for which you have
to pay. ssh 1.x is almost as secure (there is a highly theoretical
attack) and commercial use is narrowly defined.

Using ssh 1.x you can installed sshd on your server and let your
clients get whatever client they want off the internet. You will not
get hit for commercial use if you do this with ssh 1.x (the ssh 2.x
licence will get you for commercial use uif you try this trick). You
might need an IDEA licence though. Most ISPs and remote servers are
still using ssh 1.x and have no plans to upgrade for some strange
reason...

I have been using an (AGP) S3Trio3D based card for a while with the
VesaFB stuff and XF86FBDev. It may not been acclerated but provided
your monitor can handle 60Hz it works fine (mine does at 800x600 but
not at 1024x768). All I need now it to get that Ex-solbourne 16" one
connected at use it at something like 1280x1024 instead (it only works
at 60Hz and has a picture a *lot* sharper that my old 14" monitor).

The next version of XFree86 will support the card. All I need now is
multiple card support to I can use both monitors at once. I also have
a cheap (cirrus logic) PCI video card, which XFree86 understands. If I
unplug the AGP card I get no display, period, so using it in the
interim is not an option.

It's a standard font, but if nobody has installed it or it's not
in your printer, you're in trouble. Do

gs -h

to make sure ghostscript itself is installed and to see
where it's looking for fonts. It's likely to be
/usr/share/ghostscript/fonts. Or if you use rpm, do

rpm -qa | grep ghostscript

to see what's installed.

Fdisk is for partitioning disks, not for partitioning partitions.
You might want to try

i don't mean to suggest it's a bug. i'm quite sure it's something i'm

here is the output of a df command:

if i've understood it correctly both /usr/bin and /bin are under the

when i do the copy within /usr/bin i get the following message:

No, of course RPMs dont live in /sbin (or /usr/sbin). The binary for
hwclock is in /sbin/hwclock and with rpm -qf I query the RPM-database
which RPM-package this program is from. The answer is: util-linux-2.8.
So, you should test if you have this package installed and then you can
also list the contents of this package (rpm -ql util-linux). See "man
rpm".

If you want to locate a certain file on your system, you can use
"locate filename" (assuming the locate package is installed).

I dont know GnoRPM, but you can use find to search your CD: 'find
/cdrom -name "util-linux*" -print' (first you have to mount your
cd-rom).

Dave,

I use emacs to both fetch and read mail from the pop server. The emacs
program is rmail and you need to configure emacs with the following code
in you .emacs file:

;; ------------------------------------------------------------------
;; RMAIL settings
;; ------------------------------------------------------------------

(require 'mail-utils)
(provide 'pop3)

(setq rmail-output-to-rmail-file "XMAIL"
      mail-host-address "email.myisp.com"
      mail-default-reply-to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
      mail-archive-file-name "~/Mail/sent"
      mail-yank-prefix "> "
      mail-signature t
      rmail-default-directory "/var/spool/mail"
      rmail-generate-archive-file-name nil
      rmail-generate-downcase t
      ;; pop mail settings
      rmail-primary-inbox-list '("po:bumble" "/var/spool/mail/bumble")
      rmail-spool-directory nil
      ;; nnmail-spool-file '("po:bumble" "/var/spool/mail/bumble")
      ;; nnmail-movemail-program 'nnmail-pop3-movemail
      pop3-maildrop "bumble"
      pop3-mailhost "email.myisp.com"
      pop3-password-required t
      pop3-port 563
      pop3-debug t
      rmail-pop-password-required t
      ;;nnmail-pop-password-required t
pop3-authentication-scheme 'pass ;; 'apop or 'pass
      )

Although some of this stuff is probably unnecessary.

;; ------------------------------------------------------------------
;; GNUS settings
;; ------------------------------------------------------------------

(add-hook 'nntp-server-opened-hook 'nntp-send-authinfo)
(setq gnus-select-method '(nntp "news.myisp.com"))
