Now wait a minute Floyd. I do not actually use Linux in the windowing
environment, but my Unix recollection is that an rlogin or telnet window
can easily be VT100 compatible. It has been a while but it works like that
from another non-windows system.

Version 0.0.2 of "Circus Linux!" has been released!

What Is It?

Circus Linux! is a clone of the Atari 2600 game "Circus Atari,"
  produced by Atari, Inc.

The object is to move a teeter-totter back and forth across the screen
to bounce clowns up into the air. When they reach the top, they pop
rows of balloons and then fall back down. If you don't catch one, you
  lose a clown!

Circus Linux! is Open Source software, released under the
GNU Public License. (In other words, it's free and comes as source
code which you can examine and edit!)

New in version 0.0.2

  * Pause feature
  * "Low power" mode for better playability on lower-end hardware
  * More animated circus acts in the background
  * Bug fixes and other enhancements

Where To Get It

  http://www.newbreedsoftware.com/circus-linux/

Requirements

Circus Linux! should work on the following platforms:

    Linux
    Windows
    BeOS
    MacOS

Subject: depmod: unresolved symbol(s)
From: "Paul J. Lucas" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Date: 13 Mar 2000 06:09:46 GMT

I built my own kernel off of the 2.2.15-2.8.0 source (from
Yellow Dog Linux Champion Server 1.2) for my PowerBook G3
        (Lombard) and I get:

                # depmod -ae
                /lib/modules/2.2.15-2.8.0/fs/lockd.o: unresolved symbol(s)
                        do_lockdctl
                /lib/modules/2.2.15-2.8.0/misc/mouse.o: unresolved symbol(s)
                        adb_mouse_interrupt

Yes, before installing the new modules, I deleted the old set so
they aren't left over from previous builds.

The definition of do_lockdctl appears in fs/filesystems.c. If I
        do:

                ksyms -a | grep do_lockdctl

        I get:

                c0132540 do_lockdctl_R__ver_do_lockdctl

The definition of adb_mouse_interrupt appears in
drivers/char/adbmouse.c. It does not appear in ksyms at all even
though I specifically did a CONFIG_ADBMOUSE=y in my config file
(so it should be built into the kernel).

        - Paul

P.S.: When building a kernel, is it OK to "strip vmlinux"
        before installation?

Subject: question on squid

I know this is likely OT, but I can't find a suitable group at this
time.

Would someone either point me to the correct group, or answer what I
hope is a simple question?

I have squid running on RH6.1 and http works fine all across the
network. I can't get any configuration to allow for mail. I have looked
at working squid.conf files and have made all appropriate changes. I
have checked my /etc/hosts file, and believe there are no problems
there. I have more than once checked the NS proxy config, and don't
think there is a problem there. This is obviously either a brain fart or
a mistaken assumption (aka brain fart as well).

Once I configured my NS5.61 on my linux box to use it, my mail dumped as
well it would seem, but I get no error message from it.

The other machines can't seem to find the DNS host (ISP DNS server) for
mail or news, nor will ping and tracert (win98) seem to get through the
proxy either. However, DNS for HTTP seems to be fine.

Any ideas?

The help says:
"If you say Y here, you won't need "Kernel support for JAVA binaries"
(CONFIG_BINFMT_JAVA) or "Kernel support for Linux/Intel ELF
binaries" (CONFIG_BINFMT_EM86), as this is a more general solution."

It's misleading because "Linux/Intel ELF binaries" (aka iBCS I
think...) are not the same as the Linux native ELF. The "misc binaries"
is for Java and iBCS, which are not native to Linux.

The (Linux native) ELF help says "Saying M or N here is dangerous because
some crucial programs on your system might be in ELF format."

I have been using it for about a year; currently have whatever version
came with RH6.1. It works fine on both of my computers, a Pentium 233
MHz and a K6 III 400 MHz - it is noticeably faster on the K6, but so is
KDE. Niether of them have ever crashed, frozen, locked up etc. In the
older computer ( Pentium ), any form of X Windows was very slow with a
lot of disk grinding, until I went from 32 Mbytes of RAM to 64 Mbytes.
The older version of Gnome which I downloaded from the Gnome website
didn't work very well, but I haven't had any problems since RH6.0.

Hello. Does anyone know how to use that program put out on the web called
pbm2ppa-0.8.6. It is a program to get some of the HP Windows only printers
to work under Linux. I am somewhat new to Linux and need a step by step
tutorial on getting this to work. I understand make files and compiling
because I am a CS student who has done things like this, although still a
newbie. If anyone knows what I am talking about could they step me through
this a little bit. Thankyou

as title, i need some help on using rp-pppoe with demand dial up. i do
not understand the mechanism of this pppoe client at all and i haven't
yet find a way to pull up the demand dial up with pppoe.

here is some history:
i am using hk telecom 1.5m ultraline service with pppoe. the pppoe
client was sucessfully installed. previously, i am using dial up on
demand with pppd on 56k modem (pppd-go -d), the demand dialup is running
prefectly with ipchain sharing the bandwidth with 3 pc.

adsl-start and adsl-stop was running prefectly. the problem is i can't
enable the demand dial up, or say i don't know how to enable the demand
dial up. ip masd is also running perfectly, my 3 pc can share the
bandwidth after the link is up.

]The command works, and the files go flying down the screen, but for some
]reason the final archive is only 12 meg. I have over 400 meg of data
]spread over /var,/usr,/home, and so forth... What is going on? I know
]I'm not getting a 33:1 compression ratio! :) I'm running it as root,
]and the system is being used, but I'm told that doesn't matter.

Are you sure everything is on one filesystem? Post a
df -k
