i am running a offline system which pull the mails
via fetchmail onto the server. Now I want to deliver
the mails coming in without timeloss (sendmail sends
only by sendmail -q). So I find procmail works good,
but getting the eMail via MS Outlook from the server
fails.

There is no from Line at the beginning at least?!?!?
I haven't configured a .procmailrc yet. The delivery
with the .procmailrc is via sendmail. Hmm, thats my
problem. I hope someone out there could help me.

Thank you

Galban

Nowhere. This is a Win-only device, and only useable on operating systems
that the manufacturer provided drivers for. Junk it.

Subject: Can't boot Linux from hard disk
Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2000 06:20:55 GMT

Still trying to get this old 486 to run Redhat 6.0. Got the LILO problems
all straitened out. But whenever it tries to run the standard linux kernal
image it gets an error while trying to uncompress it. Error varies from
"crc error" to "invalid compressed format". The odd thing is that it will
boot just fine from a rescue disk with what presumably is a copy of the
same kernal image. Tried copying the vmlinuz-2.2.5-15 to the hard disk and
setting up lilo to boot from the new copy. Changes the error I get, but
still fails while trying to uncompress the kernel.

I stumped. For now the system is usable as long as I keep the rescue disk
in the floppy drive. But it is annoying and I would sure like to figure out
what is going wrong with the hard drive boot. Anything else I can try???

It is easy.
1) use virtusertable to re-route incoming email to my.domainname
virtusertable:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]

2) use genericstable to change sender address:
genericstable:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED]

--
If you use the above tables format than you can use exactly the same
files on all computers "sharing" the domain.

I use myself something very similar for domain shared by 3 computers
(two of them are MXes for the domain)

Actually I run Mandrake 7.0 V2 and have an Ati Rage Fury 32 mo which
runs fine under XFree86 3.3.6. Mandrake is based on Redhat, so I guess
that if you can't find a way out, try and buy a magazine with Mandrake 7
V2 CD (some 5 euros ' cost ), both are very much alike, and my video
card was detected at the very beginning of install process. Hope it will
help !
Good luck !

This is a quite commonly asked question. Read section 4.1.2 of the Linux
Newbie Administrator Guide at
<URL:http://sunsite.auc.dk/linux-newbie/FAQ.htm>.

For another ref. see the bootdisk HOWTO (section 12) at
<URL:http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/Bootdisk-HOWTO-12.html>, but the
above pointer is more helpful I think.

If your linux partition is still alive - when you will boot your computer up from
floppy give him: vmlinuz root=/dev/hda5
It should mount /dev/hda5 as root partition.
You have to look at /etc/lilo.conf to check whether it is ok.
Would be nice to grab bootsector (ntloader can be wound then).
And if /etc/lilo.conf is correct (boot and image point to valid disk and
files) you may call /sbin/lilo

If you have WinNT sometimes it needs to reinstall NT's ntloader (like
/i386/winnt /b ) and wait until instalation programm is coping files onto
hard drive. I haven't had linux and Nt together for months so i don't know
if ntloader will survive (ntloader and only ntloader - not all instalation)

No drivers needed for the Optra 40, since it is a true
PostScript printer AFAIK.

From: Lim Kian Tee <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Subject: Linux Problem

My problem started like this: -
1. I used partition magic in win98 to establish an extended dos partion
of about 6.4 gigabyte and then two logical partitions of 5.4gigabyte and
1.0 gigabyte. I have drives C, D, and E and my CDROM is drive F.

2. I used drive E: for data storage, drive C for win98 and as for drive
D, I installed Linux Redhat 6.0.

3. After successfully installing Redhat, I find that the image in my
Linux screen is too big for Linux to be of any use. I cannot see what's
on the desktop and I cannot scroll.

4. I have two choices: a) to remove Linux and reclaim drive D for win98,
b) solve the Linux display problem.

5. I decided on option 'a', ie to remove Linux because I am a newbie to
Linux and I figured it is beyond me to hack away my Linux problem.

6. I restarted my system and Lilo boot into win98. I noticed that my
drive E has become drive D and the previous drive D has disappeared.
Thinking that partition magic will be able to 'see' the previous drive D
and hence I could remove the Linux, I proceeded to start partition
magic.

7. To my horror, I got an 'error 114' message and partion magic failed
to start up.

8. I then used my win98 start up disk to boot up and tried to start
win98 fdisk.exe but the system hanged.

Please advice me on what I should do next.

The partition you boot to has to be below cylinder 1024.
The way SuSE tries to avoid this is to have a separate partition mounted as
/boot. This needs to be about 4MB large - that is one cylinder on a modern
disc.
System.map and vmlinuz have to be here, along with a few other files. The rest
of your filesystems can be wherever you want.
