Has anyone had any success with installing Net::SSLeay into a local
directory on a host?
Example /home/domain/www/cgi-bin/Net
I am close but am having a few problems and hope someone can help me

This message is coming from inetd. I redirect it to my maillog file by
using the SEVERITY function in /etc/hosts.allow:

BTW, there's two qpopper mailing lists (announce and discussion) for

I should have mentioned that I am using the "Sawmill" window manager under
RedHat 6.2... I was using the "Enlightenment" wm, (and was able to resize
in either direction), but could not find a way to make the focus (active
window) follow the mouse (instead of requiring a mouse click to make a
window active)...
Sawmill gives me the active window following the mouse, but doesn't
seem to let me interactively resize the windows horizontally...
Any ideas? I will change back to "Enlightment" if I can get the focus
to follow the mouse...
Thanks...

Is there a way I can save streaming real audio content to my hard drive as
.ra or .wav files, so I can play them back later? This would be extremely
handy.

Create a file .hushlogin in your home directory (from a shell,
"touch ~/.hushlogin" will do it).

My mistake. I asked the wrong question.
What I meant was: I would like to use a partion management tool on Win2k
(which I am running right now). In addition, I would like to add linux
while I am at it. For use with Win2k, which do you recommend?

I meant to ask which partition management tool works best with Win2k

as well. Any thoughts about PM vs. SC2k? Will there be any problems
between linux and w2k?

I am using Redhat 6.0 and am having trouble with xaudio. It plays an mp3

Ok a question seen everywhere on every board. But still not answered in my
book. I have RedHat 6.1 on a Dell inspiron 7500 and cannot make the
Xserver work, tried gazillionz of combinations with xf86config only come up
short if having a screen split in 3 when i use Redhat 5.2 and Mandrake 7.
Problem 1: Now when I load 6.1 up everything loads up with the wrong
kernel version.
system.map incorrect kernel version
fails to activate swap partition
/lib/modules/2.0.36/modules.dep FAILS
filesystems mount /fs type devpts not supported by kernel
Login screen shows Kernel 2.0.36 on an i686
shows login prompt,
5 seconds later flickers then screen blanks. and I can't do anything
When I boot from floppy it boots up clean but the kenel version is
different: 2.2.something (sorry im on my win98 partition) but still blanks
out...
problem 2... doesn't recognise lan card 3com 3CCFE574BT or cardmgr not
working.
problem 3... probably the most important. Xserver ok I've read all the
necessary thing I need for a new Xserver (XFree86) and stuff, but do not
know what (exactly), how to transfer from floppy (Im a newbie remember and
my LAN card doesn't work), and why it reads my GRFX card but chokes on my
generic LCD monitor.
Please help! Thanks.

According to the author of the es1371 sound driver module, there is some
kind of incompatibility between this driver and late revs of the Ensoniq
chipset. This incompatibility shows up in kernels <= 2.2.14, so if you
are using this driver and have the "klogd hog" problem, upgrading to
kernel 2.2.15 or better should fix it (and make your sound card work as
well).
For my Mandrake system, I upgraded to kernel 2.2.15-0.20mdk, available
from the "MandrakeCooker" directory of your favorite mirror site. This
fixed both problems for me. I strongly suggest making (and testing) an
emergency boot disk before trying to upgrade your kernel.

you would have to mount the devices first..ie
mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy
then
tar -c file1 file2 /mnt/floppy/Archive1.tar...
or what ever.
if not that, and space allows just create the tar ball, then copy it
onto your preffered backup device.

But yours is an easy game to play, and is pointless to argue. Don't believe
me? For the third time I'll ask: tell me your favorite invention of the
1990's. I'll systematically rip it to shreds based on past work.
Once you've realized there is zero new invention, we can discuss the real
issue here: what company is the absolute best at refining, commercializing
and integrating technology? When it comes to software, nobody beats
Microsoft.

Actually, I came from the unix world. HP/Apollo, to be exact. In 1992 my
company paid $2000 so I could run Wingz spreadsheet--a tool which was
incapable at the time of printing the current view (among a long list of
other things). We all used a PC that had been relegated to programming
flash parts so that we could use Excel.
Interested to know the other tools I ran? How about DSEE (source control),
which was another giant piece of $10K/seat shit that couldn't even
automatically extract dependencies (those were manually noted by hand).
Interleaf was what we can for doc preparation, and it was only $3000/seat.
Amazingly, I couldn't cut from Wingz and paste into Interleaf.
I don't miss any of it. A bunch of greedy, sloth-like corporations drove
Unix into the ground over a period of 15 years. Shame on them.
BTW, go the M$ site to read how SIS is very far from symbolic links. You
don't appear to understand the technology.

Reliability is always a trade off with ship date. I'd rather have an OS that
stays up for 24 hours and runs DirectX than runs for three months without
it. Everyone has different priorities. Microsoft offers several classes of
OSs now, ranging from very high reliability to very well tuned for games.
Your choice. I like choice. I run Win2K at work, and Win98 at home.

Good heavens, I have a junky old 166 in my office that I upgraded to 96M of
RAM and it works great with Win2K (it is the office Unreal Tournament server
as well as the office web server and doc repository). The upgrade cost was
$58 for 64M of DRAM. Just tell your wife you are going to spend the money.
