The "church" is perfectly willing to kill members who leave that have
information that could be harmful to them.

Scientology is evil, no two ways about it.

Check out the uid and gid options to mount (see man mount for details).
I have a group called win which I belong to; and gid set to the gid

Thinking about it, maybe it should be called lose (a lot of money)...

Now, now, don't say such things.

You probably don't actually have proof of this.

And if you _did_, saying such things in public certainly wouldn't reflect
well on "the church," and could thus get you, um, killed...

Hi all,

I just upgraded kernels from 2.2.14 to 2.2.15, and now everytime i run
kudzu, the only thing it does is say "Segmentation fault" and then
exits. I only notice this because whenever i reboot, when it gets to
detecting new hardware, it always fails. Any ideas what is wrong? I
configured and recompiled the new kernel to almost the same as the old
one was. TIA.

Subject: How add my domain to local nameserver?
Date: Sun, 14 May 2000 23:03:12 GMT

Ok, I've read the DNS HOW TO and must have missed this point:
Once I have a local nameserver running (my own nameserver on my own linux pc,
not the one my isp provided) how do i update it with my domain name that
exists on my linux pc? Or is this automatic once the nameserver is
functioning?

I don't know if I need to do something with bind or some other package. Can
direct me to the correct resource -- or even tell me exactly how to go about
this :)

Thanks!

Andre'
p.s. The reason I want to run my own nameserver is because i hate waiting
several days for the isp's nameserver to update its cache when I should be
able to do the same thing locally right away. Translation, I want to CONTROL
my own server. Another reason is because many isp's want to charge $100 per
month to add additional domain names to their nameservers even when you are
hosting everything on your own system. Not that I want to stiff anyone, I just
don't think $100 per month to have a domain added to a domain server is
reasonable when everything is running on my system. It's not a bandwidth
issue, it's just what they charge for the 'additional service'.

I'd suggest using linuxconfig for setting up the ppp connection, it'll
do the job. Don't know what you mean about users not using pap.

Sendmail is secure, if you think there is a security issue with the
system, don't look at individual apps, install a firewall.

It may be to do with allow and deny, see what it says in the files
in /etc hosts.allow and hosts.deny and maybe you need a host file
on each 95 box.

Have a dig around in the HOWTOs in /usr/doc/HOWTO they may be able
to give you some pointers, I don't think it's your IP settings so
much as the win-linux crossover obstacle.

The process that crashed dumps its entire memory status (registers, stack, allocated

Man, that sounds weird. Are you sure you have kernel 2.2.14 source?
Anyway, check for KERNELRELEASE variable in the config files, that's
what modules_install target uses for the directory name.

Look at /etc/crontab and put a mailto statement in there:

 MAILTO=tfindaly

If you want all of root's mail, put the below in /etc/aliases and run
the 'newaliases' command. (Works for sendmail. May need to restart
sendamil too.)

Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Date: Mon, 15 May 2000 01:57:58 GMT

Hello,
I'm am currently developing a linux configuration program that
will be designed to run on all distros for a college research project.
It is to allow people to create modules for configuring different
aspects of a linux os. Now these modules can be written in any
language that can be executed on a system and use stdio. Now to use
these modules I was thinking of having the modules create cgi forms
using html. This would require the user to have a loopback connect and
a web browser on their system, two very common and simple items for
linux. The webrowser would load the html page, and send a cgi string
back to the module and the module would edit the system based on the
users input in the cgi string. Now I was wondering if most people
agree with the idea of using a web browser for the system
administration? I figure using html is a common way of implementing an
interface that most people know. They wouldn't have to learn anything
new in order to create a module for whatever they wish. Plus
webbrowsers are available in almost every platform possible so
transportability would be no issue. What does everyone else think of
this idea? Any suggestions?

Yes, and I'd assume anyone's definition of "best result" would be that it
looks good to the client as well.

I write and test most of my HTML in Windows because that's what the
majority of the clients are using. I use Homesite, which is non-WYSIWYG
but does have color coding for tags and a few shortcuts to cut down on
the tedious stuff. I feel I get the best results this way. I will
occasionally use Dreamweaver, which is WYSIWYG, for parts of a site if I
feel it will do the job better/easier than writing it by hand.

Regardless, I test on Windows, MacOS and Linux, with a variety of
browsers (and browser versions) before anything goes live. See? Using the
tools that do the job to my, my clients, and my viewers, satisfaction.
