Could you please elaborate on "swipe and click"? I take it that this is
something that will work for all applications that run in kde?

Yes, it's possible. Not something you'd want to do manually, though.

You'll want to use something like the MAKEDEV script. Slackware installs
this script in /dev, but the script itself appears to be maintained by
redhat. Search on freshmeat, the redhat site, or look through one of your
other systems and I bet you'll find it. If you can't find it, I can mail
you a copy.

I believe he means the gpm-style of selection mentioned earlier in the
thread: text is automatically "copied" as you left-click and drag the
mouse to highlight it. It's then pasted with a center click (or right
click under gpm). The Windows way adds a step to this, in that you first
select, then copy via ctrl-c or the edit menu.

Hi,
Sorry that has taken so long to get back to you with the answers to the
questions that you asked me !

1) I wish to monitor the RAM memory usage. Although it would be nice to
see how the swap area is being used as well.

2) The network is based on 100mtz hubs/switches with a 64K line linking
to a remote site, but I do not need to monitor anything on the other
side of that. The LAN has very little trafic on it other than Web
browsing and an NFS server (5 clients).

I hope this is of some use.

Ok, so not a chrooted system :). Are there other solutions to hide the
directory structure ? I don't see why my users should be abel to explore
the whole fs. And I think it makes it only more easy to find expoits.
Maybe a kernel patch ? hey look :) I know some C , but I am not going to

Indeed .. i've read about the security hole so now I will install kernel

Thank you David for the reply

I have all the libs need now (I think). I run configure then I run
make and I get the error back :

GtkView.C: In method 'GtkView::GtkView(classs GtkModel *)';
GtkView.C:334: virtual memor exhausted
make[1]: *** [GtkView.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory '/gnuvoice-1.0.1/src'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

It sounds like I ran out of memory, if so how do I fix it. My swap
area is 128 meg and ram is 64 meg, I highly doubt that it is disk
space.

From: Dr Teeth <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Subject: need guru's assistance: mail system (postfix) broken
Date: Sat, 24 Jun 2000 11:53:53 GMT

Somehow my postfix (used for sending/recieving mail) setup got broken on
my Mandrake 7.1 (basically RedHat 6.2) box. I cannot send mail
internally (to other users on the box) or externally (to any email
addresses).

When I log in as root, I get the message "You have mail.", but when I
type 'mail', I get "No mail for root." This is the same for other
users.

I am an advanced unix/linux admin, and this has been racking my brain
for
weeks. Some of the things I have already investigated or tried are:

- Running 'mailq'. This reports "mail quene is empty", despite the fact
that I have sent numerous test messages, and despite the forementioned
login message about new mail. NOTE: At one very early point in this
investigation, I tried running 'mailq', and I got the message "mail
system down", followed by over 300+ message headers (still undelivered
and probably somewhere in the bermuda triangle). At this point I
quickly realized that postfix wasn't running, so I started it with
'/etc/rc.d/init.d/postfix start', and also enabled it for automatic
startup with the system using 'linuxconf'. I then did a 'postfix
flush', and the 'mailq' info vanished (and never delivered a single
message). My postfix does start up automatically now, but my test
messages get lost and 'mailq' is empty.

- Running 'postfix check'. This returns nothing.

- Uninstalling the postfix package (rpm), and reinstalling. No
difference at all.

- Examing '/etc/inetd.conf' to see if I had something vital commented
out. To my knowledge, this wouldn't make a difference for my local
messages anyway. Furthermore, there are no entries pertaining to
postfix... Apparently postfix uses its own daemons and agents.

- Checking to make sure postfix is up. Running
'/etc/rc.d/init.d/postfix status' ensures this and returns the PID.
Also, running 'ps -e' shows the agents 'postfix/master', 'qmgr', and
'pickup' running.

I am really out of ideas here. Any help is greatly appreciated. At
this point, email must be restored, and I am about to turn to a last
resort and backup and reinstall the entire system. That would suck, and
it is too reminiscant of Win NT/9x problems. I want to figure this
out...

Thanks in advance,
Dr Teeth

You may be selecting a configuration that your monitor doesn't support.
Use Xconfigurator to do the setup, It allows you to try various
different combinations of settings, if a setting doesn't work it reverts
back to VGA so that you can try another.

Hi

I've got the same problem with my geforce card. After many e-mails
with [EMAIL PROTECTED], it turned out to be an IRQ conflict. With me
- it was the HISAX driver who could not share IRQ. Do a "cat
