With Linux running, the command
/sbin/lilo -u
should restore the original MBR if the lilo boot loader was put
there.
The clean way to remove Linux is to use the Linux fdisk to delete the
Linux partitions.
If you've already deleted Linux, boot from a DOS/Windows startup
disk and run the (undocumented) DOS command
fdisk/mbr

Hi,
a few problems/hints come to my mind, that may apply to your situation:
1. LinuxBox behind a firewall/masquerading router?
-> install ip_masq_icq.o kernel module
2. Check the network-window of licq, if theres no such Option, and anyway
3. Update to 0.85, as always, a lot of bugs are fixed
ICQ-uins are globaly assigned, icq is not bound to any platform, its just=
a=20
protocol-specification and a server running somewhere :-)
Thats it,
regards,
Tom

For openers, you might look at
http://www.sun.com/products/staroffice/5.2/get.html
You can definitely freeze rows and columns in Star Office 5.1. I assume they
didn't delete that feature in 5.2.

Those are quite Microsoft-centric questions that don't apply to
Linux, I thought. Sounds like typical marketing. Linux has never,
as far as I know, claimed to be a drop-in replacement for anything.

Dear reader,
I'm searching for someone that has already been busy with making his (or her)
own mini linux distribution that fits on a single floppy (succesfully or not
:-). I want to make one that can burn cd's, it needs programs like sox, mpg123,
cdrecord, mkisofs and a tiny base system. I already tried the BYLD program
(Build Your Linux Distribution), which is a tool for making your own small
linux distribution, but I just can't find enough documentation about it to
understand it. Who would like to exchange knowledge/help me to build what
I want?
much thanks in advance,

Hey people...
Interesting problem here - and to be honest I'm not sure if there's much
anyone can do about it, but I'm posting just on the offchance that
someone else has experienced the same problem.
I've been finding that every now and then, Netscape just disappears from
my desktop - right when I'm using it. Normally, this happens right after
I've requested a page. The even stranger thing is, I get a similar thing
happening with Opera. I haven't tried MoZilla yet - but if anyone could
shed any light, I would be most obliged.
I'm using Mandrake 7.1, with XFree86 4.0.1, and Blackbox 0.60.
Cheers for any help anyone can offer.

True, true...
But the fact is that in terms of user-friendliness Linux really is
behind Windows a bit.
Don't get me wrong - I love Linux, (I'm using it now), but I consider
myself a reasonably advanced user, and I still find little things
cropping up that surprise and often confuse me.
I don't think Joe Public out there would have been able to do what I had
to do in order to get my graphics card (a Hercules 3D Prophet II mx -
based on the NVidia GeForce 2 MX chipset) working, for example.
Maybe, two or three years down the line, someone (most likely Mandrake,
SuSE or Caldera) will release a very accessible Linux distribution for
the masses - but right now it doesn't cut the mustard in that
environment. If you ask me.

Okay, first things first.
What kind of Modem do you have?
Chaces are that if it's internal, then it's a WinModem (one of these
"cost effective" devices that do everything in Software), in which case
it probably wont work with Linux. (I fell into the same trap myself).
There is the LinModem project, (http://www.linmodems.org/), which is
aiming to counteract this, but it's unfortunate that it often comes to
no avail.
Get an external modem. You'll be happier.
Hope you get it working,
Mark ;o)

hi there,
i have got into trouble installing suse 7.0 on my machine. first i had
major headaches with yast2, so went back to the old faithful - yast1.
the system installs but doesnt recognize the adaptec scsi card (2940UW
dual - bios 1.33). the sequence goes like this:
1. during yast1 initial screen, i tried to load the scsi kernel modules
for adaptec scsi - i get a message that module faile to load but the
message output shows that it did recognize the card along with an error
saying parallel port devices not found (why thsi?).
2. after the full install, the boot messages show 0 scsi hosts found.
as a matter of interest, the win2k installed on the second disk does
recognize the card and all the peripherals.
my sys config is as follows:
pentium iii, 700 mhz w/128m. the pci peripherals are asus-v3800magic

any help would be much appreciated.
