99% Done, Please help me out with the 1% left

I started out 3 months ago but removing windows from all the computers
in my home and not 3 months later I can do 99% of my work on Redhat
7.0. The following is a list of issues(things) that I am still trying
to find out how to do on Redhat. If you can help me please let me know
I would like to close the book on this!!

1) I use to use QuickBooks Pro on windows for running my bus, Does
   anyone use someone good??

2) I am a DJ and I burn alot of music cd. I use to make a master cd
and then burn copies on windows. Now that I am using Redhat.
How do I copy music cd's (no gaps on the track changes)??
One more thing I only have one cd-rom so I have to make a image
   and then burn the copies.

I agree. Additionally...
 * Stormix is in Canada (Vancouver, BC to be exact),
 * the recipient was in the USA,
 * Canada and USA have an agreement (called NAFTA) that permits free
(undutied) flow of goods between our two countries. There are still
some restrictions, but (IIRC) software isn't one of them.

In my opinion, UPS was falsly claiming customs brokerage fees; no
customs clearance should have been required.

Yes, it is possible to use Word the "right" way. Marking
things by content and applying format with style sheets. But
I've never seen anybody actually _do_ that. They always
manually adjust the fonts/margins/whatever until they think it
looks good. Trouble is, they're often wrong. But, I suppose,
that is a matter of taste.

I'm glad that no custom's fee, etc. was involved. Stormix was using a
company called "New Media" to ship with. "New Media" was the company
invoicing me for an extra $38.

Why would Stormix work with such a company? I've emailed and left
messages with Stormix but they have not replyed.

Hello,
After a lot of troubles i've got my tape backup drive (onstream DI30) fully
working :-)

I can write tar files to it without any trouble.
with "tar tvbf 64 /dev/ht0" i can see what is on the tape and all looks very
well. The one problem i have now is that i'm not able to restore the data
from the tar on the tape, back to my hda1.

Any help appreciated.

Probably your binary needs libc4 (a.out) and associated dynamic libraries,
or libc5 and associated dynamic libraries, and the other box does not have
them. If it's a.out, the kernel may not include a.out support, which is
optional these days.

I don't think there is such a thing. As far as I know, no major Linux
distributor includes libc4 these days. You may have to find an old
(4 years?) distribution and pull the files out. Perhaps Debian has an
old enough one (http://archive.debian.org/dists/). David Parsons maintains
an a.out system at http://www.pell.portland.or.us/~orc/Mastodon/index.html.

I spent ages trying to get this card (onboard) to work using sndconfig
which did work whilst in session then disappeared once rebooted. I
eventually bought a SB128pci, massive improvement, should have done it a
while ago.

Planted a monitor: Never looked at the IP-protocol??
It's a perfect way to monitor people.........

Delayed virus: some would say Microsoft....
And, are you absolutely sure the Linux distribution (or just the
programs installed) you use are virus free? Some apps may be written by
Chinese people you know :-)
And have you read all source-code and recompiled all files? There might
be a virus inside. Even if the program is written in America by a non-
communist.

I think you're over-reacting.

Anyway, the OP seems to have misinterpreted the information. The
chinese don't seem to 'own' adobe.com; however, a domain registrar
with a chinese domain name is now the registrar of choice for
adobe.com.

All this means is that in the free-market economy of ICANN domain
registrars, a company which appears to be own from China (but might
not be) has been given a licence to act as a .com registrar. Adobe.com
has selected this registrar to register their name through.
paycenter.com.cn (the registrar) _does not_ "own" the adobe.com domain
name.

The OP is either paranoid or a troll.

You can just download the lastest drivers snd2217.tgz and pnp2217.tgz from
http://linnix.com.

You can manually install it with:

1a pnpdump & isapnp ...
1b insmod wss io=XXX irq=XXX ...
1c insmod cmi0001 (PNP ID for 8330)

or

2 setpnp

I just went through the same thing, and it's (almost) definitely an
interrupt problem. This exact problem is also addressed specifically in the
ppp How-To in it's own section. There is either an interrupt conflict or as
another responder suggested, setserial is picking up the wrong info.
Setting the IRQ to 0 turns off the interrupts and starts polling, avoiding
the problem but it's not a good way to run. I strongly suggest reading the
How-To.

I was able to duplicate your problem. I made a copy of rm calling it
rmm,
made it owned by a non-root user, and set uid. I then touched foo in
/usr/bin and
issued 'rmm -f ffff'. This gave a permission denied.

[root@tardis bin]# ls -l rmm
-r-sr-xr-x 1 franner root 20240 Oct 21 01:50 rmm
[root@tardis bin]# ls -l ffff

[root@tardis bin]# ls -ld .
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 32768 Oct 21 01:50 .
[root@tardis bin]# ./rmm ffff
./rmm: remove write-protected file `ffff'? y
