Try to add compact to lilo.conf. That is, if you boot with lilo installed
on the floppy.

Are you sure it stops. While in script if I do "ls -l" it
shows typescript with a length of 0; but when I "exit" it shows
a length. The file "typescript" is not written until you exit
script. Take a careful look at "man script".

A version that runs on Linux is included in the `bsdgames' package,
which should be pretty easy to find.

Gene Heskett sends Greetings to Raimondas ;
You'll need the xsis driver from SuSe. And XFree86 >=3.3.2.
I'm also seen it that its supported by XFree86-4.0.1 but have not tried
it yet, can someone please testify?

Dear Linux'es
I've got a weird problem which is out of my knowledge.
Definitions:
1) I have a CD with MP3 files
2) It contains some directories in my native language (Russia),
in general 8-bit characters.
3) I have two distributions: RedHat 6.1 & Mandrake 7.2
4) CD was written using MS windows (I just got it from shop).
Problem:
1) Under RH6 I can mount my CDROM and make listing of my directories
> ls /mnt/cdrom
..... sounds ...
> ls /mnt/cdrom/sounds
????
> ls /mnt/cdrom/sounds/"????"/
some files.
Well question marks are directory in Russian characters
2) Under Mandrake: when I mount CDROM first of all directory sounds becomes
Sounds (with capital S), it is empty
> ls /mnt/cdrom/Sounds/
nothing !!!! But if I'll make df /mnt/cdrom it actually show right size (~700Mb)
which is most sound directory. If I'll make du -ks /mnt/cdrom/Sounds/ it show 0 (?!)
Questions:
1) Is it problem of mount?
2) is it problem of Mandrake?
3) is it problem of environment variables (I have bash) and/or
internalization?
Any suggestion are welcome.
Valentine.

In that case I would have to say that it is possible that something
neccesary was left out of the kernel config. I'd boot to the old kernel
and give it another go. Make life easy on yourself and save your kernel
config to a file, then load that file every time you build one. This is
much easier than starting from scratch every time, and you can keep
multiple config files around for experimentation. Plus, you can save
your config when you upgrade your kernel (I've been using the same basic
config file through like 20 kernel upgrades, I just add in the new
features I want). You can also go to your old 2.2.14 source tree (I
know you saved it right?) and pull your kernel config file out of that
tree and copy it into your new tree. Then load that file under xconfig
and you will have the same features selected as was in your original
kernel. Build and install that to get started, then work on adding new
things.

Subject: HP-Omniback vs. Reiserfs

Hi,
we have the following problem:
We recently migrated some of our files to reiserfs-partitions since we got a
bigger RAID. We do our backup using HP's Omniback and the Linux-Fileserver is
just a backup client, the tapedrive is connected to another machine.
Since the migration the backup-client on the linux-machine only sees the ext2-
Filesystems but nothing from the reiser-partitions. Is this a known issue?
Is there maybe a new version that fixes this?
Kernel-Version is 2.2.17+reiser.

Yes it will. You just have to know how to do it.
>From the man page:
Enter copy/scrollback mode. This allows you to copy text
from the current window and its history into the paste
buffer. In this mode a vi-like `full screen editor' is
active:
Movement keys:
h, j, k, l move the cursor line by line or column by
column.
0, ^ and $ move to the leftmost column, to the first or
last non-whitespace character on the line.
H, M and L move the cursor to the leftmost column of the
top, center or bottom line of the window.
+ and - positions one line up and down.
G moves to the specified absolute line (default: end of
buffer).
| moves to the specified absolute column.
w, b, e move the cursor word by word.
C-u and C-d scroll the display up/down by the specified
amount of lines while preserving the cursor position.
(Default: half screen-full).
C-b and C-f scroll the display up/down a full screen.
g moves to the beginning of the buffer.
% jumps to the specified percentage of the buffer.
So you could cat a file to the screen, C-a [, C-b as many times as
necessary, space-bar, G to go to bottom of the screen, position as
necessary, and voila.
You may also look at the readbuf command (C-a <). Do something like
cp file /tmp/screen-exchange
C-a <
C-a ]
I assume you're using a recent enough version of lynx that supports
automatic growing of textfields. Also, recent enough version of lynx
supports spawning an external editor for a textfield, and then you could
just use the editor the read in the file into the buffer.

Files that need to be "tidied" up, such as files above a certain age in

You can disable CRON... But it's important for the system to do some

You'll need to install the 2.0.38 kernel includes somewhere and force the
compiler to use those rather than the standard 2.2 set.
