Hello Linux friends.
I'm facing this very odd situation. My server's uptime is showing "92
days". It could be more, but 92 days ago I accidently turned off the
no-break with my knee. Damm knee!!!
Anyway.. 92 days is my record! We'll buy a cake when it reaches 100, 8
days from now. I am very proud! Since the server is running so smooth, I
don't need and don't want to reboot it every again.
BUT... I need to apply "ipchains" to the kernel (2.0.36).. The following
question sounds really stupid to me (and might sound to you too), but here
it goes:
Is there a way to recompile and use a kernel without having to reboot the
server?
I don't want to reset my uptime!!
CAN ANYONE UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM GOING THROUGH? ( I know NT users won't :-)
Thanks!
