I just have Mars up and running. The DOS client has no problem seeing
it as a Novell server but the DOSEMU of another Linux machine can not
see the Mars server at all. Both machines use the same kernel. I did
not find anything from the FAQ. Does anyone know whether there is an
English website for Mars?
When I tried to load "NETX", it responded with "No server found".

Dude, if you had read anything about linux you'd have noticed that unlike
windoze for idiots, it requires intelligence to install. The kind of
intelligence that realizes that you don't abuse ppl who give you tech
support for FREE on software you got for FREE just because they don't have
the perfect answer for you. so, like, if you really wanna solve your
problem, put the computer back in the box it came from, send it back return
to sender and give the reason as "too stupid to operate a computer" then,
get out your etch-a-sketch and swear to your heart's content. Or, better
yet, sign up for that new web tv, you don't have to know ANYTHING to use it!

kind of services you want provide about the two domains, for example the
apache server includes virtual domains.

Hi all,
would it be possible serve two domains by one NS ?
E.g. mydomain.com + mydomain.net
which shall result in e.g.
host.mydomain.com = host.mydomain.net = 1.2.3.4
How to configure DNS that way ?
Thanks for any help !

if it connects but you can't ping anything, it's probably just a problem with
routing, try doing: route add default ppp0

Hello,
Id like to install Linux on a Network of about 10 PCs. One of them
should be a nfs server with lots of disk space. My question is:
Is it possible to install my Linux distribution with all the needed
programs on the server and then do a "mount -t nfs server:/usr /usr" on
all clients???
On the clients should only run a minimal Linux system, so that they can
boot on their own and then do mount the /usr tree from the server.
Thanks for help!

Hi,
You do not need drivers, just have a look at your serial line speed ... use
setserial command to speed it to 115Kb

[posted and mailed] I'm assuming you have a real null modem cable (data pins
and flow control pins crossed over) and not just a 'serial cable' which will
not work.
If so, run ppp on one machine with
pppd local -detach noauth passive crtscts /dev/modem 38400 [ipA:ipB]
and then go over to the other with
pppd local -detach noauth local -detach crtscts /dev/modem 38400 [ipB:ipA]
and check the logfiles, usually
/var/log/messages
/var/log/syslog
or /var/adm/*
and see what other problems you may have. Close reading of the man pages
and the stuff in /usr/doc/ppp* will help you with more complicated options.

Hi Markus,
I believe you can do it, you should only leave /sbin, /bin
on the local machines. But /usr should be available early on during
booting, as /usr/sbin holds many inet daemons, yp stuff etc, at least
on my system. So, it might work if you make sure that /usr is mounted
at boot time, along with the other file systems. Otherwise, make sure
you move all important binaries from /usr/sbin etc to another place,
which might involve changing e.g. /etc/inetd.conf.
Bye,
Michael

i've been trying to connect to NT4 for file and printer shares using

i'm not trying to set up a samba server on linux. i think i'm compiled
to use encryption. i can't run the .reg file to turn it off on NT
'cause i don't own the server. i had this working once before. there
was some magic incantation that needed to be made for NT4, i think. i
have no recolection what that was, and now i can't connect.
strange thing though, i can connect fine using smbmount! unfortunately,
this doesn't help me with printing, otherwise i'd leave it at that.
please help! i'm sick of booting to windows!
