There's a program called xscreensaver that probably does what you want.
Type 'man xscreensaver' for details of how to use it.

rpm -Uvh <file>.rpm is what you want.  The doom rpms are on the RedHat CD,
but be warned: I have heard that the version that came with redhat 4.2
could write random data to your hardrive (I never managed to get it to do
it though).
