PROBLEM SOLVED:
My isp is using 56flex standard and is supporting x2 and v90 only
to 33600 speed. Thus, I couldn't get very high transfer speeds (max 3.6
k/sec). This is not a big problem and will be dealed with later. (bought
a new modem).
Maybe my AT+MS=11,1,300,33600 and ATS33=32 settings also helped in the
dial string. The first sets 33600 as the maximum speed so that the
capabilities of the modems (at the other end) will not be exceeded. I
don't know what the ATS33 thing is about.
My ISP also had some technical problems that have been solved now.
At least my connections last longer.
Further, I found out that
eventhough my ISPs server automatically closes the connection after 1 hour
of inactivity it doesn't seem to monitor ftp activity (???-not sure).
Going to the web every now and then helped me to keep the connection.
This should not be true, but I seems to be...
I am now using the "ftp" program which has a reget option. So now I can
resume loading of a program after reestabilishing an internet connection.
Thank You very much for your valuable support.
