ha ha. That modem sucks. I don't think you'll be able to get ANY PCI modem
to work in linux at this point in the game. I believe what you have is the
SupraMAX modem by Diamond?
Anyways, all of the PCI modems I've seen so far don't have a UART chip on
them, and it's actually emulated by a driver that needs to be loaded. Those
drivers are win9x/winNT only. If I hit the nail on the head and you've got
a PNP modem that doesn't have jumpers, you better take it back where you
bought it from and get a real modem. Either a Supra Express from Diamond or
a 3com modem (not a WINmodem though!)

Subject: Modem Problem
Hi,
I have a Diamand Supra 56i HCF PCI (ie SupraMax 56i Voice PCI), but can't
get it work. It's connected to ttyS2 (COM3).
minicom initilizes the modem, says it's online, but does nothing. (Ctrl A Z,
Ctrl A O etc work.)
kppp keeps telling me that the modem is busy.
I've read quite a few HOWTOs but still couldn't figure it out.
Can anyone tell me how to configure it? Thanks a lot.
