I am using a cable modem, no problem at all. The connection to the
cable modem is via an Ethernet connection; very easy. The most
complex is to configure and use dhcpcd, which is pretty easy itself.
Just read the cable modem howto (or minihowto) and the dhcp howto
(again or minihowto).
