Please don't use attachments in the future -- they are inconvenient for me
to read, and I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. Put any needed
information in the message itself.
The ftp-error file contained messages concerning innfeed, a process
concerned with newsfeeds. No info on ftp there. You want messages from tcpd,
in.ftpd (probably - this name varies), and, if you're going to and from the
same host, whatever ftp client you are running (probably ftp).
The ppp-error file included a lot of irrelevant messages from innfeed and
innd, and what was present from pppd was, unfortunately, uninformative. I
don't know what the message "Modem hangup" means exactly -- did your modem
time out and hang up after failing to get an answer? did the other end hang
up on you? It might help to see the script you are using to run pppd (but be
sure to delete any password info). At this point, I don't even know for sure
whether this is pppd dialing out or receiving a call -- you need to explain
more about the setup (in the same message that has the other info - I don't
keep these around long enough to consult your prior postings easily).
