Good Morning / Afternoon / Evening:

At work we have standardized on MS products, I would like to
run Linux but need to be able to be productive. In order to
be productive I would need to have the following things:

  - Ability to access NT servers from my PC for
file/print services. This can be done through
        SAMBA correct?

  - We use DHCP. That shouldn't be to difficult to setup.

  - I will need to read/write Word 97 documents. I have
looked at the website for Applixware and it says that
it can import Word 97 docs but it isn't able to
export that format. I also looked at the StarOffice
website and it says that it can access Word documents.

  - We use Outlook for email. Is there a way to get mail
from an Outlook server? Is there a way to send mail
        to an Outlook server?

My questions:

  - Can StarOffice save Word 97 documents? I couldn't find a
clear answer. It appears to be able to read them.

  - Is it true that Applixware can not save Word 97 documents
        as the website states?

  - And I know this is purely subjective, but which package
would you recommend? Either Applixware or StarOffice. I
suppose I could try them both out.

Thanks for any help,
- Eric Grissen
