Your summary of what you did is a bit too succinct for me to follow
completely. For example, I don't know what you mean by "i use minicom and
get to terminal and ping server but it wont let me do anything", by "in ppp0
i check route", or by "my isp's tnt". (Also, while I don't mean to sound too
picky, I do find conventional English spelling and punctuation a good bit
easier to read.)
So, let me ask these clarifying questions:
1. After you have run the command to start ppp, what is the *complete*,
exact output of "route"?
2. Also, after you have run the command to start ppp, what is the
*complete*, exact output of "ifconfig"?
3. Make sure you are running pppd with the "debug" and "kdebug 0" options
set. Also, run chat in verbose mode ("chat -v") or do the equivalent in
whatever dialer you have pppd using. With all that set, what do your logs
(probably /var/log/messages and /var/log/debug) show pppd and your dialer
reporting for a connection?
4. If instead of invoking pppd and a dialer, you try to connect using
minicom, what does the exchange with your ISP look like (except don't give
us any actual passwords)? How does the ISP authenticate you, and how and
when does it initiate ppp?
