A Practical Guide to Linux is a nice intro, as long as you do not get
pissed with the chapter on using a GUI.
Linux Unleashed (comes in several flavours) is not that good, but it
does touch on broad spectrum. This book is not targeted to beginners,
but i think they flatter themselves. Check mcp.com the book is online
(save money)
with sites
http://www.justlinux.com
there is a site called linux newbies
and a site called Linux helpcenter, this allows you to search Q&A about
other people's problems.
Sorry i don't have the urls. Also the Josh Guides are a required
resource, truly well written.
