Hi !
IMHO the "Linux Unleashed" book is the best I ever saw for setting up a
system and I tried out several books/magazines/sites. Maybe that is just
personal taste same as with the X desktops, but in this case i only can
deeply recommend the Unleashed.
Another book that may be useful to newbies is "Linux - Installation,
Konfiguration, Anwendung" from Michael Kofler published at Eddison-Wesley,
originally in german I think there is an english translation as well (at
least I ordered the english version and got the german book which is fine
with me). This book starts from zero and explains many things that are
valid for the different distributions or tells the different ways for the
major distributions. Just the SuSE 6.0 Linux that comes along with the book
sux a big time, well, one wants the book and not the distrib.
Besides that a book with all the available english HowTos crossed my way
when i was the last time in a Border's book store, looked good to me, i
just didn't like the price.
