This depends on what kind of Mac you are using. Their ethernet cards are a
little off from standard, and if they are not connected (older macs) to the
ethernet on bootup, they can cause problems. You should connect your mac
and pc w/the crossover cable...hopefully a good one, then like earlier
mentioned setup your MacTCP or TCP/IP settings in the control panel. Send
us more details if this hasn't been fixed yet.

A cross-over should work (as long as it's properly
made) between two PCs. Don't know about between a PC and a
Mac, though.
