Can someone point me in the direction of a step-by-step guide to
getting KDE to run under Red Hat Linux 5.2?

I've installed KDE from the RPMs included with RH 5.2. Everything seems
to be in place. Following the instructions at the KDE website, I've
tried editing Xclients and xinitrc, to no effect. The KDE site also has
some other instructions that, being a newbie, I don't understand at
all. For example:

"First of all, please make sure that you have added KDE's binary
installation directory (e.g. /opt/kde/bin) to your PATH and KDE's
library installation directory to your LD_LIBRARY_PATH..."

Right now I can do a few things within fvwm & AfterStep, but since I'm
coming from a Macintosh background I'd really prefer a "desktop" rather
than a "window manager".

TIA
