Try "which usekde" and "which kfm", and see what you get. If you get an error,
or if you get nothing at all, then KDE is not in your path. If you do get them,
then it is in your path.
Then try "echo $KDEDIR". If you get no output, then you need to run usekde to
set up your environment variables and stuff. If you do get an output (/opt/kde)
then you're all set to go.
If it's still not working... Post your .xinitrc (or equivalent) if it's not too
long.
