Only with a guess ... the Linux host (specifically, tcpd, the security
daemon for ftp and other conncections) can't verify the hostname of the
computer you are trying to connect from. This can cause a failure or simply
a long (5 minutes) delay. 

To fix this, add the hostname and IP address to /etc/hosts or make sure it
can be found via DNS (a "reverse lookup" problem) -- which to do depends on
details of your setup that you haven't described here -- probably use
/etc/hosts, guessing based on your use of 192.168.*.* networking.
