Need help installing files.

Hi all,
I'm a definitely a newbie.  I've got RH 6.0 and Gnome.  I'm trying to
install GNUCash (gnucash-1_2_3_tar.gz) and hal_tar.tar.  How do I do this?
Hal is a theme - the big red one eye light from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
What commands do I use?  Where does this stuff go?  I've got very minimal
knowledge of Linux directory structure so please go easy.

And, yes, for those who will wonder, I did RTFM.  I didn't see any in the
FM that helped, covered this or explained it.
