I am investigating the possiblity of running some version of Linux on a Powerbook G3
300.
So far, the distro that looks like the best bet is Yellow Dog Linux.

Any comments on the pros & cons of YDL vs LinuxPPC vs MkLinux would be appreciated.

I have not found any information about software compatibility, which is my main
concern.
Is that a problem, or will any Linux software work on the PPC platform?
Can binaries be used, or is compilation required?
I am wondering about this because the CPU obviously operates on a different command
set from an x86, so it doesn't seem
possible that it would be binary-compatible. I have little experience with compiling,
and no experience with PPC's.
Is source code (or should it be) 100% compatible?
What about commercial non-open source software?
