There are several Linux distributions that run directly (not via emulation)
on Macintoshes -- mostly PPC hardware, but I think there is even one for
some 680X0 CPU. Take a look at Yellow Dog, LinuxPPC, and MkLinux. I can't
make specific recommendations, as all my Linux experience s with x86 hardware.
