Hey Richard,
thanks for the swift reply, I had the boot disks, I did make them, in fact I
made three sets in case there were bad copies, I got in and have the boot
problem conquored, it was a misconfiguration of the LILO in the MBR due to a
previous installation of the R.H. 5.2 2.0.38, removal and installation of
That Turbo Linux, and reinstallation of R.H. 5.2 2.0.38. Now in an attempt
to configure the sound card, I am once again up that creek, sans paddle.
Running on a Cyrix M II 333 MMX processor ATI 3D Rage II c AGP graphics
card, and Crystal CS 423X Sound chip MDU IRQ. I try auto probe and it fails
to configure the card. Trying the manual set up, it asks for the DIP switch
settings. I suppose this means that I must take the computer apart and see
what these settings are. Is that what I must do in order to configure the
card ? Do you think that I am also going to have to take my printer apart
when I come to that part of it ? My modem is a 3 COM U.S. Robotics 56K PNP
fax modem. Do you think that I will have to do some arcane things to it,
like change the jumpers to get it to work ?
Thankx for the guidance, I was able to get an acceptable GUI mess running at
one time from the directions on this list, still trying to print and get
online. CR
