If you are searching for the config file, try /etc/X11/XF86Config.

A good way to get X going is to use Xconfigurator, or if that doesn't quite do
it try XF86Setup. If neither of those work, try xf86config, which does it all in
text mode.

Check out the really handy HOWTOs in /usr/doc/HOWTO. As I remember
they are called something like XFree86-HOWTO and I think there is an
XFree86-Video-Timings-HOWTO. If you don't know X, a good look through
Xwindow-User-HOWTO is really, really helpful.

"X". Anyway is there a way I can compensate for this with my screen size. I adjusted
the vertical knob as small as I could and it's not small enough. I am using a old VGA
Packard bell monitor with a Asus mach64
video/sound card in a p120 with an asus mainboard with 32Mb RAM. I am using redhat 6.1
and I'm getting sick of typing for everything at the prompt.(If I'm not in xwindows
the screen seems fine) I tried editing my xf86config file but couldn't find it in the
traditional place ( /etc ? ). I'm
stumped so any ideas would be terrific. Thanx in advance for any help. --Chris

We are pleased to announce that after much pre and post y2k testing we have survived
the 2000 rollover problem that everybody w
as expecting to have. We hope that we have tested all systems to death, but there may
still be problems lurking in the bowels o
f our software. Be assured that any glitches that surface will be dealt with
immediately.

In the meantime may we take this opportunity to wish you a prosperous 1900.
