I have a machine that looses network configuration when rebooted. The
two items I must redo each time the Linux server is rebooted are
ifconfig eth0 192.168.1.1
route add default gw 192.168.1.1
I also see that when I start X and look at the situation with netcfg,
under Interfaces, I'm told that eth0 is
and "unmanaged device." I can't edit such unmanaged devices in netcfg.
What does this mean, that netcfg is not owner of the network
configuration files?
I'm running RH 6.1. The docs in hand don't tell me enough about the
mechanism of the init program to setup the networking.
