An IBM box has just handed its towel in at work, having a spare PC kicking
about I thought I'd be able to stick a Linux machine in its place.

I'm running the software on anther Unix machine and want to pipe the display
over to the Linux machine.

The Linux box is running RH 6.1 with the following XFree rpm's:

XFree86-3.3.5-3
XFree86-libs-3.3.5-3
XFree86-xfs-3.3.5-3
XFree86-75dpi-fonts-3.3.5-3
XFree86-Mach64-3.3.5-3
XFree86-devel-3.3.5-3
XFree86-ISO8859-2-75dpi-fonts-1.0-8

I can get the menu screen of the software running on Linux no problem, but
get the following errors when I try to open certain windows:

Warning: Cannot convert string "-*helvetica-medium-r-*--11-*" to type
FontStruct
X Error of failed request: BadName (named color or font does not exist)
Major opcode of failed request: 45 (X_OpenFont)
Serial number of failed request: 790
Current serial number in output stream: 791

+ /bin/rm /tmp/DsuExe.AmbientNoise_W1.30698

err: fflush failed on stdout+ /bin/rm /tmp/DsuHst.AmbientNoise_W1.30698

Does this simply mean that I've not got 11 point helvetica installed? If so
how do I install just this one font? xlsfonts doesn't show that the font is
installed.

Alas, I can get the software to work fine on a windows machine running an X
server (Exceed), although I can't see that 11 point helvetica is installed
there.

I've no idea how to change the software to use a differnet font.

So, any ideas how to configure X to accept the piped screen?

Cheers,

Dan
