Hi,
if you want a real HW RAID controller you should use a Perc6 (with cache and battery). SAS6/iR is sort of a SAS that can ‘talk’ RAID. Of course Linux can handle SW RAID, but Perc Sx000 are ‘softwareBASED’ RAID solutions. That means in the RAID BIOS you can define what RAID levels shall be used, but all the work is actually done by a OS driver (which is not available for Linux). The server itself can run Linux OS but you need to install RAID controllers other than any Sx00 Perc. All S-series Percs are Windows-only + there are no Linux soltutions that I know of. Cheers. So this device is for a more a software driven RAID.
