There is a driver which supports the configuration and partitioning of a disk under Linux. That is what allows the SBUU DVD to install an OS when an S300 is the boot controller. However, this driver has not been tested as a full OS driver and therefore I would not recommend using it.

We had good experiences with that controller and CentOS 5.3. Haven't had an r210 yet so I can't comment on how it would work there. There is a fakeraid driver for linux, it's called 'dmraid', but it only supports a limited number of adapters. I've only used it successfully twice yet on old-ish servers. I don't know if it supports the PERC 'Sxx' series. This time round we would like some real HW RAID instead fake RAID.
