hi richard

when using NT shares with samba...be sure you use a TEST NT machine...
to conduct your tests....

- linux with Win95 bug workaround in the kernel will destroy your NT timestatmps
        - enable it as a module in the linux kernel...not built into the kernel

- linux-2.2.{5,6} will also screw up your "last modified timestamp"
        - screwed up == year from 1900 to 20xx anything in between

- commands that modifies the "last modified timestamps" will screw up the NT...
        - touch -m xxx
        - tar zcvf /tmp/x.tgz xxxx

- Older linux-2.0.36 kernel + smbmount-1.xx does NOT screw up the NT time stamps...

- use smbmount from smbd-2.0.3 package

for automounting with autofs, see the howto

have fun
