Many many thanks to Clifford Kite, Geof Goodrum, and Chris Shelton for
taking time to respond to my request for help. Thanks!
I should have clarified that I read the man-pages and earlier tried
the "ipcp-accept-remote", "ipcp-accept-local" flags, including
"noipdefault", bogus IP addresses like 200.200.200.2:200.200.200.3. etc.
here's what I've been trying, and I've examined the /usr/adm/messages
file for clues, to no avail:
#/usr/sbin/pppd /dev/ttyS2 57600 debug kdebug 7 \
connect '/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/ppp/chatscript' \
ipcp-accept-local ipcp-accept-remote 192.168.0.1:192.168:0.1 \
demand
^^^^^^
|
+-----------When I add the "demand" flag, nothing happens. The debug
info looks like the dialing process stops at opening the
/etc/ppp/chatscript file. However, when I remove the "demand" option, I
connect with no problems to my ISP...
Ummm, to those who have demand-dialing working, what kernel version
and with what version of PPP are you using?
Again, TIA for your help!
