I didn't say, but these suggestions were meant for the "server" box.
Moreover, the "asyncmap a0000" should be added to both machines.
The only time I've seen a post in which a Linux-to-Linux connection had
frame errors, adding this option cured the problem. But I don't know
to which machine. And why it fixed the problem is still pretty much
a mystery to me.
The CCP message is not, as I said before, caused by the problem - just
wasn't paying attention to what it said. CCP negotiations often simply
time out when CCP can't be negotiated, and that shouldn't affect the
connection, except no CCP of course. It looks like one of the boxes
doesn't support or isn't configured for CCP. Or both are configured
for different CCP algorithms.
