redhat made a smart move, given all the probs we have telling people to
upgrade their 5.2 installation.
recent announcements from mingo have informed us not to use the alpha raid
patches on the newer kernels just yet. 2.2.6 or 2.2.7+mingo's patch (look
in the archives from last week) are the current solutions.
