Well, besides the Interphase driver that has support for both SCSI and IP
(and doesn't work), I think the other people who are writing drivers for
FC HBAs are holding off on IP. Here's Matt Jacobs thoughts on the
subject:
"In my opinion IP over FibreChannel is, in general, not worth the effort
unless you have a cable infrastructure that requires it. Gigabit ethernet
is a fine technology to solve this kind of problem. The amount of grief
for an IP stack over FC until FC of substantially higher speeds, is
likely to guarantee an interesting time of things."
We use FC specifically for a storage interface under Linux and use
ethernet for our networking activities. Once upon a time,
we got IP and SCSI running over fibre channel on SGI O2s. We still found
ourselves sticking to ethernet (which we also had hooked up) for network
transactions (for the most part) and using FC for storage.
Best of Luck,
brassow
P.S. The points of contact for the specific drivers are posted on the GFS
HW recommendation page. If you're thinking about helping out with
drivers, I'm sure they'd love to hear from you.
