Subject: Lost my network connection... HELP!!!
Date: Wed, 25 Apr 2001 05:03:43 GMT
I'm a total Newbie so, please bear with me. I'm running Caldera 2.4 and
everything installed fine. I have a Linksys router acting as a DHCP on my
Windows home network. I have the Linux box hooked onto the router as well.
When I first install Caldera, I have a connection out through the router to
the Internet. But, it doesn't last. If I come back the next day, the
connection is gone. I can't ping anything on the network. I get readings
back when I "ping localhost". I'm unable to see eth0 when I "ifconf". I
tried to force it by "ifconf eth0 192.168.~.~ netmask 255.255.255.0 up.
NOTHING. I tried "insmod etc." and it tells me that module can't be found.
Any ideas on how to set the NIC so that I can get back out on the web?
Thanks in advance.

The CDROM is indeed an IDE CDROM and it is the slave drive on the secondary
controller(as shown during boot-up). But I feel the problem is with the drive
letters(in Windows) getting mangled.Any clues?
Thanks in advance

"./abc" means run the abc program that is in the current directory.

Assuming you have the sources from samba.org, take a look at this script:

Hello peoples
I'm needing help on setting up a proxy server on this machine:
P2 233, BX chipset, 192MB RAM (oc'd to 263 if you wanted to know)
CL Banshee AGP
Boca 56k modem
No-name PCI 10/100 NIC
Networked HP 710C to print to
There's also a SB AWE64 but it doesn't matter if it works or not.
This machine is currently running Win2k server, but it's really feeling the
strain, and there isn't any good proxy software with a decent cache on it. I
thought linux would be a good option, and my guess is Mandrake or Debian
should be good. The problem is that this machine also needs to run MS office
as well, and I'd prefer if Win2k server can stay, along with NTFS and such
things, unless linux can run MS office and let it share files with other
windows machines.
Please give lots of details in your replies if you think it's needed, and if
you can afford the time. My only experience with linux is cat, ls and a play
session on gnome.
Thanks in advance for replies to this post.

Anyone know where I can get a driver for HP NetRAID?
I'm trying to install RH 6.1 on a HP Net Server with this RAID
controller but it can't see the array... Having no luck searching for it
on the web. Any pointers appreciated.

Greetings all.
It is reassuring to see others have problems. Mine is that just after
selecting all the components, KDE or GNOME, Samba, NFS etc., the machine, in
theory, goes away to think but if fact goes to sleep. If I try the text mode
install I get this load of text on the screen...
type rea: Operation not permitted
pfd: 13 install exited abnormally
sending termiantion signals... done
sending kill signals... done
disabling swap
<F1> for help | <TAB> between elements| <Space> selects |<F12> next screnunm
ounting file systems
/mnt/runtime
/mnt/source umount failed ()
/dev/pts
/proc
you may safely reboot your system
I think it should be doing a format next but never gets that far. Whether it
is corrupt rmps I do not know. I think tomorrows job is to install an older
version then try an upgrade.
