Hi All,

I've been looking at some uniP Compaq AP400 workstations on ubid. Like
many Compaqs these are dual CPU upgradable, but it's difficult to determine
even from the service manuals:

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/supportinformation/techpubs/user_reference_guides/317787-003.pdf

whether these require a special (read exhorbitantly expensive) processor
module from Compaq or whether they can be upgraded with a direct SEC CPU
plugin. they do seem to need another Processor Power Module, but having never
bought a dual SEC machine, I don't know whether this is std or some kind of
special Compaq'ed thingie.

So, can these things be upgraded with a bare CPU or do they require
Compaq-specific hardware?

Anyone have one of these things that can comment on the questions above or
their general fitness for Linux SMP in general?

Cheers,
Harry
