I would suggest that you get the HP.  They at least admit that they work
under Linux.  Also, I've located their TR-4 for $199 at provantage.com:

Keep in mind that EST nor I are recommending Provantage.com, it's just
one site that I've found the TR-4 drives available for a good price.
