Based on your recoomendation I got the HP drive (IDE interface). Since it
is IDE that means I don't need ftape right?

I did a backup using tar (working my way up to BRU) and all went well.
However, when I did: tar -tvf /dev/ht0 it reads off the first few files
and then seems to timeout. THe time drive keeps making noise like it is
going back and forth but things are definitely not working.

I killed tar but the computer still inssists that the device is busy,
causing me to reboot.

Has anyone else seen this?
