I now downloaded ftape-4.x-1999_09_07.tar.gz and was able to
compile and insmod the modules. But when running taper I'am
getting the same result as with version 3 of ftape shipped
with Red Hat 6.0 when backing up:

  Segmentation fault (core dumped)

Afther this I can't remove the modules using

  rmmod zftape
rmmod: zftape: Device or resource busy

  rmmod ftape
  rmmod: ftape is in use

Is there any way I can force the removal of these modules
without rebooting the system?

And how can the "Segmantation fault" problem be solved?
