Tim,

I have read the Linux Tape Certification Web site for helping me
out to setup my ditto Max pro on the parallel port. It helped
setup the kernel configuration, but I still had one issue that I
would like to share the solution because I have seen at least
two or three similar reports in this list without anyone pointing
the solution.

I have got the following message after issuing the command
"ftmt -f /dev/nqft0 status"
ftmt: /dev/nqft0: Device not configured

I realized that the module lp was using the parport module. The
lp module was automatically loaded by the boot process. I removed
lp using rmmod lp and it worked just fine.

Before reading your tips I was compiling parport and lp into the
kernel which made it impossible to realize that lp was using the
parport.

I would suggest include in you tips a sort of statement as
"Compile parport and lp as modules. Remove the lp module (rmmmod
lp) before using the floppy tape drive".

Thanks for the Tech Tips,

Eduardo Libardi
